Tameeka’s in the New York Times!

My best friend of… years and years’ sister, Tameeka Ford-Norville, was interviewed for the New York Times blog yesterday! Although I’m excited to see a familiar face online, it’s under sad circumstances.

Tameeka runs 8 different after school programs in Manhattan and Brooklyn, but particularly in the Ingersoll Housing Porjects in Fort Greene. The day of the interview, she received a call that yet another young man, one building over was murdered. Killings of this nature are a harsh reality for Tameeka who lost her brother to gun violence in 2006.
