On Wednesday, I took a trip to the Exposure showroom to check out the Spring/Summer 2012 lines for the brands they represent. I just want to say that these ladies and gentlemen put in work. It wasn’t until I got ready to do this post and popped in the flash drive I was given with all of the press kits on it that I realized the drive also included a playlist of some hot ’90s joints. You guys can check the bottom of this post for the complete playlist.
The jacket above is from Dr. Martens. I didn’t get a chance to try it on (although I’m almost positive if it fit Brittany, It wouldn’t fit me anyway) but I can’t wait ’til it’s released! It’s probably the one piece I’m really excited about.
I switched from my crap-ass Blackberry to an iPhone about a month ago. One of my friends keeps teasing me about the case I have now. So, I’m trying to decide if I’ll go with a Good Wood case I’ve seen at Reed Space or go with one of the Incase designs I’ve seen. A few of these are up for sale now on GoIncase.com.

If you’re a long-time AssataSAYS.com reader, then you know how much I enjoy attending the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival every year. Well, that isn’t the only musical festival happening in Brooklyn. My mom went to the Fort Greene Festival last year and said she had a really good time. Earlier this year, I went to their kickoff party so I’m looking forward to heading over to Fort Greene Park this Saturday, June 25, 2011.
Brooklyn native, Mos Def is headlining the event. To find out more about the festival, click here.
And don’t think I forgot about the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. Family Day (the main day of the festival) goes down Saturday, July 16, 2011 and Q-Tip is headlining. To find out more about that event, head on over to BrooklynBodega.com.

I stopped listening to the radio at work a couple of months ago. Not because of… obvious reasons but because my old school desk radio ate batteries like a subway rat eats crap. Now, it’s Nasty Boy Radio from 8am ’til 4pm. Want to check out my Pandora Station? Click here.
My FAVORITE high school teacher (and neighbor… hehe) was featured in a New York Times article earlier this week. She wasn’t the subject of the story but her guest appearance defintely grabbed my attention. The article is about a company in LIC, Queens that donates free supplies to different organizations as well as public schools. If anyone reading this works anywhere in fashion, you should probably read the article.
If you haven’t already downloaded DJ Will Gates’ latest mixtape, Lovey Dubby S#!t, Part 3, please do so now. He’s probably one of the only people that can REALLY introduce me to new artists, because otherwise, I wouldn’t normally listen.

I normally hate this time of year. I don’t spend much (if ANY) time at the shows and seeing all of the skinnies models running around NYC can be a little intimidating, so being anywhere near Lincoln Center normally isn’t an option. But, this year is different. I’ve found work! WOOHOO! I’ll be working with a few new companies in the coming weeks so I’m excited about the shows and all of the surrounding events. Here are a few I’ll be at:

Deadstock Ric has set up the first event (that I’ve heard about) for the new year. The first sneaker fundraiser of the year will take place on Saturday, January 8 and will feature live art, sneaker auctions, and {drumroll please}…
an open Vodka bar! Yea! It’s a free event open to everyone 18 and older (of course you must be over 21 to drink) but donations are strongly suggested. Weather permitting, I’ll see you all there!
