I’ve averaged one pair of new shades every summer for the last three years. In 2008, there were the squared Michael Kors shades that replaced the vintage Gucci’s I got from my mom (I broke them after 3 years and stood on 5th and 55th CRYING my eyes out over it).

In 2009 there were the vintage, rimless Playboy glasses my grandma gave me. Last summer I bought a pair of all black Carrera glasses at that Carrera Escape event with Rhonesha and Cachee.

I started this summer very early with a new pair of glasses; a pair of Knockarounds.

There are two things that drew me to this tortoise shell pair:

(1) the price (of course!)
(2) the arms have spring hinges to keep them from stretching out and breaking easily (see: .gif below)

It’s Spring which means Prom Season is upon us. Young ladies all over the country are searching for the perfect set of earrings, the perfect pair of shoes, the best hair style, and OF COURSE, the prefect dress. For many young girls, the cost alone keeps them from experiencing a prom. Good thing there are organizations like Dazzle Divas (The Brooklyn Prom Project) and Launched Ladies Creative Agency.

Spring is a little more than 24 hours away and that means high school girls every where are growing more and more excited for their first (or final) prom. That also means that there’s a young girl who wants to go but won’t be able to afford a dress. That’s where you can help.

Dazzle Divas has started The Brooklyn Prom and Scholarship Project is collecting (once again) prom dresses for teen girls in the area.

The goal of our 2nd Annual Dress Drive is to help financially challenged teens in Brooklyn attend their 2011 High School Prom through donations of gently used formal occasion attire. {We are requesting} Cocktail & Social Dresses, Bridesmaid Dresses, Social Occasion Shoes, Jewelry, Accessories, Un-opened cosmetics and beauty products. My FAVORITE high school teacher (and neighbor… hehe) was featured in a New York Times article earlier this week. She wasn’t the subject of the story but her guest appearance defintely grabbed my attention. The article is about a company in LIC, Queens that donates free supplies to different organizations as well as public schools. If anyone reading this works anywhere in fashion, you should probably read the article.

If you haven’t already downloaded DJ Will Gates’ latest mixtape, Lovey Dubby S#!t, Part 3, please do so now. He’s probably one of the only people that can REALLY introduce me to new artists, because otherwise, I wouldn’t normally listen.
