5411’s, Back Again

Sunday, February 19th, 2012 at 4:26 pm

Remember the #throwbackthursday photo I posted on Instagram with my mom and the necklace I made for her in pre-school (which she still has)? She’s been keeping that necklace in a Reebok Freestyle a.k.a. “5411” box since the early 90s. I remember my mom wearing 5411’s when I was young and wanting a pair so bad. I finally talked her into buying me a pair in 2007 (late, I know) when Reebok celebrated the Freestyle’s 25th Anniversary. I scratched them about 4 wears later at a ’92 party and haven’t worn them since.

Thanks to Erika P. of Reed Space, I got a new pair!!

I posted the pic above on Instagram with the comment “5411, size 7 in girls…” so it’s only right that I post this vid, too.

Ohhhh… what a simpler time it was when acrylic was in and capris were cool. For another Reebok drop in an old song, look below…

Recap of IFB Conference

Friday, February 10th, 2012 at 3:52 pm

For the second year in a row, I was involved with the Independent Fashion Bloggers Conference at Milk studios. When anyone ever asks me about getting into blogging, I mention this conference to them. Almost any question that new or veteran bloggers have can be answered at this conference. It happens twice a year and always has some great panelists.

These are a few pictures I took on my iPhone as I was tweeting, updating my Facebook, instagramming photos, and making gifs from the event.

All of the guests who purchased tickets receieved gift bags which were of a pretty high value. I can only imagine the amount of coverage each of the sponsors has gotten already/will get from the bloggers in attendance. Each gift bag included an ASOS brand Lazer Cut Zip Top Clutch, Bauble Bar’s Pearl Jam Necklace, a gift card from, nail polish and nail polish remover from my favorite company, Zoya, a $39.95 credit from where everything is just $39.95, Pop Chips, 4 Think Thin protein bars, the March 2012 issue of Glamour magazine, make-up, and of course, a notebook.

J Brand was also another sponsor of the event. They had a booth set up where guests could create entirely new outfits or mix and match pieces form J Brands latest collection with what they already had on. Those who participated in the “Style Showdown” got dressed up, took photos, and competed against other guests for the best look. Whoever was voted to have had the best look won a $1000 gift card to J Brand.

It has to be a myth that people in the fashion industry don’t eat because when the 12:30 lunch break came around, I witnessed the most aggressive crowd ever going for all the sandwiches, cookies, and brownies they could get to. I guess models are the only ones who can run on coffee and carrot sticks alone. I grabbed what I believe was a chicken salad sandwich on whole grain bread with arugula and red grapes.

And what would a blogging conference be without live coverage?

Yesterday I received my second order from I instagrammed pictures of both items and got more inquiries than I thought I would. is just like any other daily deal site except design is the main focus of every sale.

Assata R.

On the thank you note that came in both of my boxes was this quote from the founders of

We had a REALLY nice run this week; we spent a few days this week in the 60’s! That won’t be the case for the weekend and probably the next couple of months. Now is a good a time as any to stock up on some winter gear and Reed Space is helping you do just that.

Next Tuesday, November 22, 2011, Double Goose returns to the Reed Space Annex.

Prices are steep if you’re on a budget but the quality is remarkable.

Exposure S/S 2012 Preview Day

Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at 9:52 pm

On Wednesday, I took a trip to the Exposure showroom to check out the Spring/Summer 2012 lines for the brands they represent.  I just want to say that these ladies and gentlemen put in work.  It wasn’t until I got ready to do this post and popped in the flash drive I was given with all of the press kits on it that I realized the drive also included a playlist of some hot ’90s joints. You guys can check the bottom of this post for the complete playlist.

The jacket above is from Dr. Martens. I didn’t get a chance to try it on (although I’m almost positive if it fit Brittany, It wouldn’t fit me anyway) but I can’t wait ’til it’s released! It’s probably the one piece I’m really excited about.

I switched from my crap-ass Blackberry to an iPhone about a month ago. One of my friends keeps teasing me about the case I have now. So, I’m trying to decide if I’ll go with a Good Wood case I’ve seen at Reed Space or go with one of the Incase designs I’ve seen. A few of these are up for sale now on

Duvetica S/S 2012

Saturday, October 29th, 2011 at 7:48 pm

A few weeks ago, I visited the M5 Showroom to check out the Spring/Summer 2012 collection of Duvetica jackets. I remember when Raeana was in Paris and spoke about the line. She was the first person I had ever heard mention it. Only after I heard I’d be viewing the new collection did I do a little digging. Designers Giampiero Vagliano and Stefano Rovolett left Moncler to start Duvetica. I expected the same quality if not better because of it and that’s what I saw.

This was one of my fav for the day.

American Living Holiday 2011 Collection

Thursday, October 13th, 2011 at 10:01 pm

I was invited to the American Living showroom by PR girl Cachee to review the 2011 Holiday collection. I was already familiar with the brand since it’s exclusively sold in JCPenny, where I often shop.

Assata R.

I promise my trips there started as mere walk-throughs to get to the rest of the mall but you’d be surprised how many great things you can get from JCP. (Might I mention BOGO half off OPI nail polish ALL THE TIME?! you’re welcome!)

Assata R.

Anyway, I stopped through expecting… very… Christmas in the country. That’s pretty much what I got with a few exceptions. The clutch below is one of them.

Assata R.

As value conscious as I am, this American Living for JCPenny is def worth the modest price tag. The bag above is $30 and JCP is good for having 3 day sales almost every weekend. Oh wait… what’s that I hear? Sounds like prices dropping! Owwwww!!

For more on my fav pieces and another happy surprise, look below…
