Babeland, Bust Magazine, and Baked by Assata for V-Day

Friday, January 27th, 2012 at 9:55 am

If you follow my Twitter or Instagram account, then you know that I love to bake. Well, I finally found a reason to bake without consuming everything I make like a fat ass healthy, growing, young woman. Last December, I baked my signature Sweet Potato Pie Bites for Babeland’s Holiday event with Burlesque artist Darlinda Just Darlinda.

I’m happy to announce that I’ve linked up with the pioneering toy store again for a Valentine’s Day event next month.

If any of you made it to Raeana’s Naked Hearts event a couple of weeks ago, then you know what to expect. For those of you who have yet to taste my sweets, you’re in for a treat. I hope to see you all there!

Baked by Assata at Babeland

Thursday, November 10th, 2011 at 9:13 pm

For the second winter, holiday season in a row, I will be spending nearly all of my free time baking. If you follow me on Instagram (”AssataSAYS”, of course), Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr, you’ve already seen the pictures of my peach cobblers, sweet potato pie bites, and apple pies. Well, if you’ve been eager to taste before placing an order of your own, you can come down to Babeland’s Soho store on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 and try out my sweet potato pie bites.

The event is completely free and should be a lot of fun. Babeland usually throws pretty nice parties and with my treats in tow, it’s sure to be a hit!

$19 for $40 to Spend at Mojito

Monday, October 17th, 2011 at 12:40 pm

A few months ago I wrote about my trip to Mojito, a Cuban restaurant in my neighborhood. I found a deal where I spent $20 on a voucher that allowed me to spend $40 on food at the restaurant. That trip took me back to the days where Mojito was the only neighborhood restaurant I wanted to eat at.

Well, if you’ve been waiting to try Mojito out, now’s your chance.

BuyWithMe.com is offering a $19 voucher which allows you to spend $40 at the Clinton-Hill/Fort Greene restaurant. The deal ends this Saturday, October 22, 2011 so hurry. To purchase this deal, click here.

Thanks mom for tipping me off on this one ;-)

Dinner: SoCo

Sunday, August 14th, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Last night, I walked over to Myrtle Avenue to check out what is to be Dee and Ricky’s new bar/restaurant and stumbled upon SoCo, a new restaurant that the ladies at Polish Bar have been tweeting about for quite some time. Dominique, my mom, and I decided to dip in for dinner. Very glad we did.

Dinner: Pies ‘n’ Thighs

Saturday, August 13th, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Last night I went to Pies ‘n’ Thighs in Williamsburg for dinner off of my friends’ ridiculous reviews on how great the food is, I had to try it out. I’d been looking forward to going all week and I finally made it.

Dinner: Black Swan

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011 at 11:30 am

A few months ago, my mom and I went to a new neighborhood restaurant on a recommendation (thanks, Timm!) and had a nice experience. It was so nice that we decided to go back just for mussel night. So, here’s my second post on Black Swan.

Every Tuesday from 6p-8p, Black Swan has unlimited mussels for $12/person. We went back for mussels night because on our previous visit, we had the same mussels as an appetizer and enjoyed them, very much. The sauce that they cook the mussels in is the best I’ve ever tasted.

Dinner: Mojito

Friday, July 1st, 2011 at 10:15 am

The same year I moved to Clinton Hills was the same year I turned 16 and on my 16th birthday, I remember eating at Mojito, a Cuban restaurant not too far from my house. I was so happy to have a spot so close to where I lived that was sooooooo good! Somewhere around 2007, they changed management (or ownership, or got a new chef) and the food and service became… deplorable (sounds strong, right?). It was sad to say bye but I did. Until about two weeks ago.

LivingSocial.com had a deal for Mojito; spend $20 on a voucher and get $40 worth of food. Well, after the Fort Greene Festival on Saturday, I put that voucher to use and had dinner with some friends.

Dinner: Anima

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011 at 9:46 am

Earlier this month, my uncle from North Carolina came up to visit. My grandma treated him, my mom, and I all to dinner at Anima, my favorite (and I think my grandma’s) favorite Italian restaurant. I’ve been here a million (or so) times before.
